Жамиятда адвокат муҳим ва масъулиятли ролни бажариши туфайли у муайян касб ва этика мезонларига жавоб бериши лозим, ва бу мезонлар одатда ҳар қандай муносиб фуқарога қўйиладиган мезонлардан анча юқори: адолатлик ва ҳаққонийлик, мустақиллик, топширилган вазифа учун жавобгарлик ва бошқалар. «Одил судловнинг муҳим иштирокчилари ҳисобланган адвокатлар ўз касбларининг шаъни ва қадр-қимматини тутиб туришлари лозим», — дейилган БМТнинг жиноятларни олдини олиш бўйича Саккизинчи конгрессида 1990 йил августда қабул қилинган «Адвокатлар роли тўғрисида асосий қоидалар»нинг 12 бандида.
Адвокатлик этикаси адвокатлик фаолиятининг ахлоқий жиҳатлари тўғрисидаги илмий асосланган тасаввурлар тизимини ташкил этади.
Шундай қилиб, бизнинг фикримизча, адвокатлик этикасининг аҳамияти шундаки, у адвокатни малакали юридик ёрдам кўрсатиш борасидаги мажбуриятларини бажаришини таъминлаш, яъни ҳар бир Ўзбекистон Республикаси фуқаросининг конституциявий ҳуқуқини таъминлаш ушбу мажбуриятларни бажариш вақтида адвокатнинг лозим бўлган хулқ-атворини аниқлаш, инсонпарварлик мазмуни билан тўлдирилган адвокатлик фаолиятига ахлоқий тус бериш ва шу вақтнинг ўзида давлат, жамият ва адвокатура ўртасида боғлаб турувчи бўғин ва баланс вазифаларини бажаради. Адвокатлик этикаси оммавий-ҳуқуқий институт сифатида адвокатурага нисбатан жамият ва давлат ишончини керакли даражада шакллантириши лозим.
